Mirror - Ellie Goulding

Is this our world?

I look in the mirror
I can't get over you
Is this our world?
Is this someone else?
Is this someone else?

I look in the mirror
And I try to see myself
My head full of terror
From the games I played so well
I try to see clearer
I try to forget the fires I started
I try to be nearer
To where you are
To where you are

Are we star-crossed lovers?
Did I really want you gone?
If I'm really a winner
Where did these demons come from?

I was the girl who was on fire
I was the girl who was on fire
Only a bird could get much higher
(I look in the mirror)
'Cause I was the girl who was on fire

I look in the mirror
And I try to understand
And piece it together
Wash the blood from both my hands
I can't see the ending
There are people who know my every secret
I'm tired of pretending
You're in my heart
In my heart

Are we star-crossed lovers?
Did I really want you gone?
If I'm really a winner
Where did these demons come from?

I was the girl who was on fire
I was the girl who was on fire
Only a bird could get much higher
(I look in the mirror)
'Cause I was the girl who was on fire

Short story #8

Sound waves rattled the door, making the students' eyes widen with fear of the unknown. The storage closet door was closed, no one had been in there since the end of last school year. There were more students filling into the band room, the first day of school soon approaching, they stopped and stared as well once they too heard the strange rattle and shake of the strange creature behind the closed doors. The bad director was neutral as he watched his students curious with alarm. A brave freshman started towards the door with eager steps. as he turned the door knob there started a snarl from behind the door. He froze. Just then another student came barging through the door. "STOP! MY CHEETAH IS IN THERE!" "Liam!" the band director screamed, "what do you mean there's a cheetah in there?"
"I stole the purple cheetah mascot from our rival school! Don't worry he's only stuffed with a sound box."
Everyone sighed and started to joke around with while shaking off their nerves. Pretending they weren't scared at all. The brave freshman at the door to the newly discovered ploy laughed and made a mocking gesture as he opened the door. He looked into the room and turned back with an expression of horror. With a flash of purple the boy was gone.

TheTwo Hearts short story #7

There was once a time when she believed everything that came out of his perfect mouth. The silver words wove into her imagination and brought them to life. There were strains and there were obstacles but they always managed to pull through. There were dark spots on each of their hearts. The girl felt the pain of being judged and never being good enough. He was struggling at home with internal and external unfair circumstances. Comfort couldn’t be found within each other, their lives were too busy and the dark spots grew too strong. The only escape seemed to be to run. Put everything behind and try to pick up the pieces to move on. The hearts were no longer tangled together; they started to latch on to whatever they could. One heart retreated to friends and good company while the other drew deeper and deeper into itself. The first heart promised that it would always be around. Using silver words and crumpled pictures to instill belief. The second heart held onto this hope but words can only last so long. Actions of the first heart were excruciating and comfortless while the words still tried to spin the silver web. The silver started to fade as the second heart saw the reasons for the silent treatment. The second heart didn’t care about the new found interest that the first heart had latched onto. All the second heart wanted to know was why build up hope when there is none. Why pretend that she meant anything at all to him. The silver is gone. And so is she.

Short story #6

She saw him standing there, his back to a tree, staring straight at her. His eyes were clouded and strained, red with emotion. He tried to shake his head but the gag around his mouth made it almost impossible. You could see him straining against the rope around his wrists, already red with blood, that bound him to the tree. The ropes held firm. There was nothing he could do to stop them. The natives were chanting now. With their vividly colored clothes and masks of animals and creatures from the depths of imagination. The chants were dark and erie with no words, just sounds and shrieks. They were dancing with torches that blazed bright in the night in patterns that made the mind ache. She was still staring at him as they came toward him with spears. The rope buried into his skin. She stepped out from the bushes and let an arrow fly at the first native. Soon they started to drop like flies around him. Their attention went to her. They sprinted after her as she ran through the forest. He was left alone with the tree in the middle of the clearing. Another figure appeared from the opposite end of the tree line. The figure ran to him and quickly cut the rope and the gag. He made a move to go after them, but the figure caught his arm and shook his head. As they disappeared into the trees, a scream rang through the leaves.

Short story #4

The first thing to fall was Big Ben, the clock tower reaching to the clouds along side the Thames river. People fled in mass panic as a giant entangled mass of black and blue scales smashed the monument to pieces. From Xavier White's view from a near by hotel window, the scene seemed to almost freeze. He saw two dragons, one black, one blue. The sky slowly started to darken as dust and building parts melted into the sky. The water was parted up wards as the blue dragon fell back first into the river with the black dragon bearing down on him. both dragons had blood dripping down their teeth and claws, their eyes were both black, but Xavier could see spots of color in them. There was a soft purple fleck in the blue dragon's eye, color of pain and loss. Blood and desire shown through the red fleck of the black dragon's eyes. Xavier slowed the scene down even more with his mind to take in the surroundings. He saw people running in all directions away from the two battling creatures. He wondered what they were thinking about. Only a few months ago did the world leaders decide to tell civilians about the existence of mythical creatures and now the two fiercest of all the magical world were tearing each other apart in the middle of their city. After Russia had declared war using magical allies the rest of the world had no choice but to legalize magical activity. Xavier turned through the pages of his journal as the blue dragon started to slowly disappear behind the slow rising wave of water. He stopped at a page with an illustration of the black dragon, from Russia. This dragon was the leader in the fight for world domination. Xavier knew now who he needed to side with. He turned back to gaze out the window, the world still frozen in time. Xavier White closed his eyes and the world spun back up to speed. The two dragons wrestled in the river each trying to drown the other or find an opening on the neck. Finally there seemed to be a winner, the blue dragon was pined under water with the black on top, teeth firmly lodged into the back of his neck. There was a flash of light as a lightening bold zapped the black dragon right in the rear, making him roar in pain and release the blue dragon. Shocked and still trembling from the surge of energy coursing through him the black dragon slowly rose and flew off, low to the ground, east. With the threat gone, the blue dragon crawled on shore to regain his breath, then nodded a silent thanks to a figure on the bank. The next day a picture was printed in the news paper about the incident, in the background there was many people running and panicking, but one man stood at the edge of the water. He had his eyes closed and a cane in hand, one commentator smirked that the man had to have been blind to be so calm and so close to death. Xavier smiled as he read this article as a bird was frozen in flight outside his window. He grabbed his cane, closed his eyes, and clicked the cane back and forth in an ark as he headed out the door, west.

Short story #3

This agony vexed him in a way that defied reason. The pounding in his skull was louder than tribal nations heading to war; stronger than a legion of men pulling against an enemy's gate. He knew he couldn't last much longer. Every moment his rage increased, only adding to the pressure in his skull. Even the slightest noise or flash of light sliced into his very being. A pen dropped. Screaming bloody murder he rose like a tidal wave, kicking away his desk, clutching desperately to his head. Wind and arms lashed out, roars of thunder and human agony, the body of man and water crashing through the class. Destruction in the hurricanes path, He made his way out of the class. Seeking shelter he belted to the bathroom. Weeping quietly in the farthest corner of the farthest stall, hands clutching his skull as is it'll explode any minute he slowly bounces his head on the wall trying to relieve pressure. Right as it reached a point of tears, the bell rang. He opened his eyes, startled, grabbed his things then headed to his next class.

Short story #2

The grass was crisp and frosted with due as she trailed leisurely  through the field. The higher stalks of grass brushed against her hands and left cool streaks of water along her skin. Her breath barely shown against the clear air in the cool winter weather. Continuing to walk through the field she saw many deer grazing nearby, the buck nodding respectfully towards her. She came closer to the herd and the bright eyed younglings came closer to figure out this stranger. She kneeled down and held her hand out to the closet fawn. She timidly came closer and sniffed slowly at her fingers. The fawn sneezed and shook her head, backing away. The others backed away too, startled. The fawns mother came over and reassured the little deer. A braver young one came up quickly to the girl and she sat up straight and stared him right in the face. He held her gaze and then licked her cheek before prancing away. She smiled and let out a small giggle at the childish joy. A chill ran down her spine as she felt the hot breath on her neck. The buck was standing behind her, his face lit up and shook his head in amusement. The girls long hair caught on a plant while she tried to stand and all the fawns frenzied with laughter. A helpful rabbit appeared out of a hole by the bucks back left foot and hopped over to the plant. The girl stood awkwardly as the rabbit nibbled at the plant freeing her golden brown locks. The rabbit bowed, twitched his nose and retested back to his home. Again the fawns lost all amount of maturity and mimicked his respectful bow. The girl stood and faced the buck as she ran her fingers down her hair in an attempted to unravel the never ending knots. There was a look of worry on his face and immediately she knew there was a deeper reason to why her asked her to come. Her mood turned official and her face set straight. "I saw them bringing more through the waterfall a few days ago and again this morning," he said plainly. "I hoped you might be able to talk to the cu coarns  and see if they can help guard the water."
"They already made it clear that the herd doesn't want to get involved with the Palace. Some of the campers in the village might be willing to help." She sighed and continued, " I surely hoped that the raid last month with the legion would put a stop to them from bringing in more earth kids but it seems they didnt learn their lesson."
"They are only bringing in males now. I had Svyrn follow them and they didn't stop at the Palace. They're taking them to the gem mines."
"It's just what I feared... They're trying to find the crystals."
"You warned the elders about what you saw. It's their fault for not believing you about your lineage."
"Yeah well I don't blame them. I haven't exactly lived up to it yet." Another rabbit came up an brushed against her ankle, then stood up against her knee. She smiled and picked up the bundle of fur. The little presence in her arms helped ease her nerves. "There's one other thing Gris. Blackie is the one that trapped the king."
The buck shuddered a little and his ears turned to alert. "Are you sure it was him?" He said softly.
"Positive. He's the one ordering the crystals be found as well. He needs to be stopped."
"How's your memory?"
"Still faded. If I had remembered anything we soundly be here right now and the Kind wouldn't be trapped."
"It's not your fault. Mers' can't heal memories, only wounds. And thy did a goo job of saving your life from that arrow. It's better to lose memories then lose the heir to the throne."
"Sometimes I wonder if that's true Gris. Anyway enough of this depressing news. How's the herd doing?"
"Chrissy there's one more thing. Svirn, when she was following Jehs band of pirates, she said she saw that boy and his friend from when you brought them to the cu coarns."
Her throat caught and her knees threatened to give out. " you used a trigger memory block on them right?"
"Yeah. And the trigger was  the air. They'll already have remembered everything. I need to find them before anyone recognizes them," she clutched the rabbit tighter in her trembling arms. The rabbit put it's paw on her hand reassuringly. "You are still recovering. Don't do anything to rash."
"I know Gris. Ill have Neirra and Arrien go."
Gris smiled, " I'm pleasantly surprised by that decision. Your father would be proud."
"I'm not doing it for him. I'm just trying to be a good leader. After the incident at the Palace I realized how stupid I acted. I can't let myself be drawn in again Gris." The buck nodded respectfully and a doe approached and quietly asked something of  her mate. "Marlee had a great idea. Why don't you stay with us for a few days after you send out the twins. Itll keep your mind off things and I'm sure the fawns would love to have fun with you," Gris smiled. "Thanks Marlee I think I will. But like you say I need to talk to the twins first."
"Take your time dear, we are staying in the meadow till morning," Marlee said while motioning her mate away towards the herd. Chrissy stood there a while longer, not wanting to leave this family or her new found stress bunny. She finally sighed and placed the rabbit on the ground, thanked the little creature and walked off into the woods toward the Siren Wolves den and ever closer to the one she loved. He'll remember everything now. And he'll hate her for it.
